Day Trip Near Nerja Spain (March 2006)

From Nerja, we could see a small white village on the side of the mountain - signs indicated it was a short 5 miles out of town. So we dragged ourselves from the beach and drove out to explore! It was spectacular! We parked and walked to the very top of the village - as the photos show, no cars are allowed on these beautiful mozaic tile streets. The entire village is connected - every turn reveals another door. We bought a beautiful pottery jug from the store pictured with plates on the side. After a rest and a drink at the top of the village, we headed back to our car for a drive out to El Gordo! Our only disappointment with Frigiliani was that we weren't there on market day. That is when the gypsies come round with their wears in baskets strapped onto their donkeys! We'll catch that on our next visit!

El Gordo - what a ride!! Very winding ... and very steep! I must say, I wasn't the best passenger for that outing! Vertigo hit me in a big way! But the restaurant Mirador Des Cerro had come highly recommended by Neil - Mike's friend from Ireland - so I held my breath! I assure you, it was indeed worth the anxiety! The restaurant was beautiful, the scenary was spectacular and the owners, Kevin and Alex, served up an amazing mediterranean meal. The best we had on this trip, in fact! If ever in the neighbourhood, don't miss it!

Hey - where's my towel! It's beach time!!!!!
